N8 vs. vs. OmniaHD Milestone new comparison display

Comparisons between the protagonists is a display where the N8 we have already seen, but what we offer today should show the device with Nokia Hardware final. Indeed, also known as Eldar Murtazin, the Nokia N8 has had its period of Hardware design more reinterpretations and probably one of the components to be changed is its display: first "approved" as OLED and then passed to AMOLED.

The video test today shows therefore an interesting comparison between the Motorola Milestone display (LCD), Samsung Omnia HD (AMOLED) and Nokia N8 (AMOLED)

Nokia N8 Benchmark is much faster

May 23 — The N8 Benchmark of Nokia is its first Symbian device. The phone has a hardware graphics accelarator as it is in Omnia HD, Vivaz and Satio.

In Nokia N8 an application is designed called Speedy Go!. This application improves the performance of Symbian based phones. It comes with speed utility test and it can be compared to the performances with other devices.

From the comparison it was found that the unaccelerated phone speed of N8 is 54% greater than the Omnia HD and it was also proved that it was greater by 180% to the N97 of Nokia.

One more thing worth noting down of N8. Based on the graphics, the phone pushes 32 million triangles on paper where as the iPhone 3GS of Apple pushes only 28 million. Nexus One pushes 22 million and Motorola Droid at 7 million.

Apart from all these, the other attractive features of N8 is that it has 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. The phone has a Xenon flash and also a sensor that compact digital cameras have. One can make HD-quality videos with this phone and also edit the videos with built-in editing suite. N8 has a Dolby Digital Plus surround after it is plugged into home theatre system.

With N8 one can also access the Web TV services along with the local Web TV content from the Ovi Store. Social networking sites feature is also enabled in it so that user can be in touch with all friends on their go.

N8, confirmed the GPU Broadcom BCM2727

After dicusso more than once, we have further confirmation (thanks to a zoomed picture) of the powerful GPU fitted by Nokia for N8.

The graphics accelerator chosen by Nokia, accomppiare to 680mhz, is the Broadcom BCM2727: 32 million triangles / sec, high quality multimedia and video up to 720p. € 469 list price when output Laminating undoubted talents to multimedia now also confirmed, could lead to many users throat.

Symbian^3 Nokia N8 to be Nokia's Jesus Phone?

If the original iPhone was hailed as the Apple Jesus Phone for its power to captivate, wow, and fascinate audiences, then Nokia's N8 may the savior phone for the world's largest phone maker. Nokia's CEO says of the N8: "Delivering the N8, with a high-quality user experience, will mark the beginning of our renewal. We will achieve our potential and regain high-end leadership in our industry." After initially dismissing the iPhone like many smartphone makers early on, Nokia has since had a hard time keeping up in the smartphone race. The company, however, has a plan to move full-steam ahead, and the N8 is a transitional phone that will be part of the transformation.

In a way, the N8 represents a bittersweet device for Nokia, which has pledged to move away from Symbian for its high-end flagship N-series devices. Bitter in that it will be the last phone on an OS that's all too familiar for Nokia's fans, but sweet in that it does represent the fantastic build quality and engineering that Nokia has to offer.

Instead, for its high-end offerings Nokia will be committing to MeeGo, an OS that is the result of its partnership with Intel's Moblin OS and its own Maemo OS, which provides openness, power, and potential against more locked down systems such as the iPhone, and to a certain extent Android.

Additionally, as Symbian^3 may be a short-lived OS since Symbian^4 devices will start hitting in early 2011, results from Nokia's new Maemo strategy won't be seen for some time. It's unclear if Nokia will alienate devoted Symbian owners, but the company seems to be employing a Microsoft-like strategy as it abandons the old and familiar (though retaining full support and will be releasing Symbian devices in non-flagship devices) and moves forward with the new MeeGo OS. In this sense, Nokia's N8 may not be the phone to save the company, but it may mark the beginning of a new Nokia--a phoenix to rise from the ashes. Whether MeeGo will have more success in the US than Symbian is also not clear, but it does present a powerful alternative to popular OSes if Nokia can attract developers and build a great app library for its Ovi Store.

N8, DivX playback with USB OTG (video)

After the demonstration video of the movie in mkv, comes a new demonstration video playback from N8 function as USB On The Go
This time, the external memory used is our beloved N900, while the movie is a DivX.

Unfortunately, the results do not sound like those videos are good, probably for encoding (as reported by the user DOLL): missing the AC3 support, the N8 has problems playing the audio encoded movies so (unless you use The Dolby Digital Plus via HDMI).
