We spent nearly fifteen minutes recently walking through Android 3.0 Honeycomb in an attempt to understand what Google has in store for the Honeycomb version of smartphones. But guess what! The answer was there all along! If you resize the emulator to a phone resolution, like WVGA, the interface totally changes. The notification bar comes back to the top, and, well, that's all we can really see, because the application launcher keeps crashing, making it difficult to explore the rest of the operating system. What we can get a glimpse of, though, is the revamped Honeycomb system elements using the Holographic UI. To be honest, we were a bit surprised to see that the Android top notification tray is back in business...we thought that with Honeycomb, Android smartphones would get a bottom-oriented notification system, as we see in the tablet UI. Certainly, since this is a preview of Honeycomb, the smartphone UI might be incomplete.
We also get a glimpse of the smarpthone Honeycomb lockscreen, which is no different than what we get in Android 2.3, save for a new font used on the clock.
