HTC Tube Concept Allows for Changeable Cartridges

Wouldn't it be interesting if an OEM were to sell a phone that could be scaled to different levels of performance based on cartridges that you'd insert into the phone? Then you could upgrade at any time, should you want to bear an added expense, and have a faster phone with new capabilities. The HTC Tube, a concept phone by our friends at NAK, has this functionality. It starts with beautiful hardware: a 4.65" curved display (capable of 1392x785 resolution) with a razor thin bezel, virtual buttons that can change depending on operating system, an HDMI output, an 1800 mAh battery, and more

The specs would change with the cartridge. With the Start Edition, you'd be running Android 2.2 with a Qualcomm 800MHz CPU and 384MB of RAM and 8GB of storage. With the Smart Edition, you'll be running Windows Phone 7 with a Qualcomm 1GHz CPU matted to 512MB of RAM, plus 16GB of storage. And on the high end, you have the best of both worlds with the Ultimate Edition, capable of running both Windows Phone 7 and Android 2.2, with the brute power of a dual core Qualcomm CPU clocking in at 1.5GHz, plus a delightful 1GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
