The optimizations that Google's been making for Froyo seems to be paying off quite nicely as a recent test comparing the Android 2.2 Webkit-based browser to Apple's iOS Webkit-enabled Safari shows impressive results for Android. Utilizing two different test engines, Ars Technica found that Android 2.2's browser performed as much as three times faster than Android 2.1 and its performance against Apple's iPhone is remarkable considering that the mobile Safari browser has been the standard to which most mobile browsing is measured against.
